Croft Over 40s preview

Croft Over 40s preview JUST as injuries thwarted Darlington’s promotion campaign in the final weeks of last season, Uncovered’s Worldnet 2008 preparations have been severely hit as they prepare to take on Croft Over 40s tomorrow.

Manager Dave Aiken is one of a number of players to be ruled out of the penultimate game before the tournament, where UFC are looking to improve on their Plate runners-up position of last year.

Aiken has ruled himself out after an ankle injury sustained against Red Lion two weeks ago failed to heal. Fortunately it is not the same ankle which has dogged him in recent years, but it is still serious enough to force him out of the warm-up clash.

Also injured are Chris Vallis and Luke Stott, who limped off against The Slaters Arms last week, Chris Elliott, who has a hamstring injury, Andy Ashmore, who is still battling to be fit for Worldnet, Paul Sunter, injured against Red Lion, and long-term absentees Brian McLaren and Craig Brooker.

Dan King is a big doubt due to the toe injury he sustained against IFA League champions Rochdale Supporters last month, and Garry Mann, so impressive last week, could also miss out. Tom Breedon is unavailable due to living in Nottingham, Gary Barden is out because he’s already played once this year and Dan Brown is in Magaluf.

Defender Dale Sanderson, formerly of Red Lion, has been drafted in while Barry Thompson has declared himself available despite celebrating his fifth wedding anniversary.

The game kicks off at 10.30am at Springfield Park.
