Getting Personal : Dan King

GETTING PERSONAL
Film you saw? Good Luck Chuck, starring Jessica Alba. It wasn't great, but includes a memorable scene where the gorgeous Miss Alba performs a striptease. Before that, it was a great film called In the Hands of the Gods. It's about a group of lads who go around the world performing football skills so that they can meet their hero, Diego Maradona.
Time you had a take-away? A couple of days ago I went to Subway for my tea.
Trophy won? Worldnet Plate runner up medal in summer 2007. I did get five beer tokens for coming second in Model T's player of the year in May though.
Goal scored? A few weeks back for Model T against North End United and a certain Nick Woodward in goal. The Fridge made a good save from our striker, but only palmed the ball as far as me, following up from left-back, and I composed myself before drilling home and celebrating with a Tommy Gun salute in his biggest fan's face.
Time you were sent off? I've never been sent off or booked, I'm a good boy.
Time you attended a match than didn't involve Darlo? West Auckland Town v Bamber Bridge in an FA Cup qualifying round in October 2007. It was a 2-2 draw but West went out in a replay.
Item you bought from the Darlo club shop? I think it was a bin with the club crest on.
DARLO
Black and white hoops or couldn't care less? Hoops all the way.
Andy Collett or Mark Prudhoe? Collett, as I was only about five when Prudhoe was playing for us.
Pawel Abbott or Marco Gabbiadini? Gabbers, although his spell at Hartlepool does mean that Abbott has the potential to overtake him if he can stay fit for more than five minutes.
Dave Penney or David Hodgson? Penney's a better manager, but his sniping at the fans gets on my nerves.
Arena or Feethams? Feethams.
QUICK ONES
Brunette or blonde? Brunette.
Cheryl Cole or Keira Knightly? Cheryl, although I wouldn't say no to Keira either.
Jo Wiley or Edith Bowman? Hate them both.
The ginger one in Girls Aloud - yes or no? Definitely! She's got a great body, lots of money and fit friends. She might also big up my performance to some of her mates, like Cheryl, who does after all have a penchant for short, slightly balding left-backs with questionable morals.
Complete this sentence: Victoria Beckham should.... come round my house for a bit of chimping and Strip Pro Evo some time. I may be in the minority but I think she's quite attractive actually.
ON THE FIELD
Who's the best player you've ever played with? Tony McMahon of Middlesbrough. He played for our school team and he'd probably be in the England squad now if he didn't keep getting injured.
Which star player do you play like? Hard to say because I'm still getting used to left back - I'd say somebody like Wayne Bridge.
What do you remember about your first UFC game? It was the first game in the club's history against Darlington Supporters' Club. We got hammered 8-2, but some lad who looked like John Travolta scored our first ever goal.
What is your best UFC memory? There have been loads. Walking out of the tunnel at Feethams was amazing but losing 4-1 spoilt it a bit, just as the result at the Arena put a dampner on playing there. Scoring two at Lincoln in our first ever IFA game was good (and rare) but the run to the final of the Worldnet plate in 2007 will take some beating. That whole weekend was brilliant.
In my opinion, referees are to be... admired - even the crap ones. It's not something I would want to do, but the game needs them.
OFF THE FIELD
Adidas or Nike? I normally have Adidas football boots.
Chinese or Indian? Don't like either really. I go to Soho Chinese restaurant in Darlo now and again but eat sausage and chips.
Which three words best describe you? Laid-back, handsome and short.
Which newspapers do you read? The Northern Echo, The Sun, News of the World.
How much cash do you have on you now? About £15.
What radio station do you listen to? Radio One on a morning for Chris Moyles, apart from that I prefer CDs or my iPod.
Best song to listen to before playing? Key to My Life by Boyzone.
Who is the most famous person you've met? Paul Danan. Come on, you know him. He was in Hollyoaks. Celebrity Love Island? Yes, the dickhead. He was actually alright though, as was Joey Barton when I met him. Apart from them, probably Kevin Keegan on a train when I was about 13, shortly before he became England manager. We spent about five minutes talking about Darlo and football in general. Paul Bracewell was with him, and was a miserable bastard, but Keegan was spot on and I've had a lot of time for him ever since.
FINALLY
Reveal something that no UFC player will already know about you. I am an excellent footballer blessed with outstanding strength, stamina and technique and a rocket shot. I just like to pretend otherwise when I'm playing for Uncovered. « back to News
